Danny Kenny, Elixir Painting founder
One of the best parts of my job is meeting new people from all walks of life. I like learning from others… understanding their stage of life and the experiences that have brought them where they are. The process of building trust with another person is my comfort zone. I’m not just here for myself. I’m here to bring honor and integrity back to the trades… bringing traditional values and skilled craftsmanship into today.
The role models in my family – my father, grandfather and my uncle – were super professional, hardworking union stagehands for decades at the San Francisco Opera house. Eventually I followed them into that work, but their influence on me started at home. They were clever, skilled handymen and inability to fix things around the house was frowned upon. Hard work, taking on a challenge and getting things done was instilled in me from an early age.
The skills I developed at the SF Opera house translate well to high-end painting for luxury properties. Rigorous attention was paid to every detail in the audience’s view. Building the sets was a demanding and collaborative effort . I learned how to manage and motivate a crew, make sure every detail of the job is done perfectly, cooperating with other departments and bringing a designer’s vision to life. I love using what I’ve learned to make a home ready for its “audience”.
